Mahnomen School Accepts Bids for Elementary Classroom Remodel
Mahnomen, MN — Despite the failure of their building referendum vote last month, the Mahnomen School is still moving forward with some building improvements, albeit on a smaller scale. The Mahnomen School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday where they approved bids for renovations to their elementary wing. Mahnomen Superintendent Jeff Bisek says they will be gutting 10 of their oldest classrooms this spring and rebuilding them to meet modern standards.
Bradbury Stamm Construction was awarded the general construction bid, H & N Quality Plumbing was awarded the mechanical and plumbing bid, and Ace Electric was awarded the electric bid. Altogether the project will cost around $770,000, which Bisek noted is actually below estimates.
With work needing to get done over the summer, the school board did approve allowing the elementary to end their school year a week early so they can get a jump start on renovations, according to Bisek.
School Board also approved calling for bids for their contracted cleaning services and approved an overnight trip to Wisconsin for the Girls Basketball team. Listen to the full recap with Mahnomen Superintendent Jeff Bisek below:
