Marquart Recaps Career in the Legislature
Dilworth, MN — As the likelihood for a special session dwindles, it becomes more likely that District 4B Representative Paul Marquart may have spent his last days in the House Chamber. Representative Marquart announced in the beginning of the year that he would retire from the legislature after 22 years of service in the House. A regular guest on the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program during the session, Marquart reflected back on the past two decades and shared what he was most proud of during his legislative career.
During the past 22 years, Marquart says he has enjoyed building personal relationships with those in his district as well as the other legislators in St. Paul.
Looking to fill Marquart’s seat in District 4B is Hawley Maylor James Joy on the Republican side and Perley native and M-State Instructor John Hest for the Democrats. Regardless of who wins and what party they serve, Marquarts hopes they will first and foremost serve the needs of their district.
While Marquart is retiring from politics, he has stated that he plans to continue teaching social studies for one more year at Dilworth-Glyndon-High School before retiring from education as well.
