Norman County Commission Opens Bids for New Highway Department Building
Ada, MN — The bids are in for the proposed new Norman County Highway Department building, and while they are higher than originally estimated, they weren’t as high as they expected. The Norman County Board of Commissioners opened bids last week and formally discussed them on Thursday. The lowest bid of the eight bids they received came in at $9,875,000 and the highest was $11,442,250. Given the rise in prices since the initial estimate last summer, Norman County Highway Engineer Keith Berndt says they were pleased with the bids.
Berndt says the bond interest rates are estimated at a conservative 2.5%.
Aside from the Highway Department building, there are number of other county highway projects taking place this summer as well. Berndt previews some of what’s in store.
And Berndt gives credit to the many county workers who have been putting in overtime and giving up their weekends to plow roads this winter.
That’s Norman County Highway Department Engineer Keith Berndt.
