Norman County Sheriff Jeremy Thornton Passes Away
R & J News has learned that Norman County Sheriff Jeremy Thornton has passed away Thursday morning.
On December 8th, 2022, Sheriff Thornton was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and had been doctoring since. Sheriff Thornton was placed on Hospice Care on Wednesday and was brought home under their care. Dozens of law enforcement officers, first responders, and community members escorted him to his home south of Twin Valley, where he passed away. He was 53 years old.
Thornton served 12 years as the Norman County Sheriff and had worked for the department for the past 27 years. He was reelected to his 4th term as Sheriff this fall, which he had previously indicated would be his last, and was sworn into the position in the hospital on Tuesday morning. There is no word yet on the next steps for the department.

Funeral details for Sheriff Jeremy Thornton:
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm.
Funeral services will be held at the Ada-Borup-West Public School in Ada, MN on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 3:00pm, with a visitation 1 hour prior.
