Polk County Commission Rehabbing Juvenile Detention Facility & Justice Center
Crookston, MN — The Polk County Commission is moving forward with much needed repairs to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Crookston, which had ceased operation a in the spring of 2021 due to extensive water damage sustained in a rain event. During her recent conversation on this week’s KKCQ Food for Thought, Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee says they approved a bid from Diversified Contractors out of Grand Forks to get that facility back to operational status.
It’s anticipated that the facility should be able to reopen to house juvenile offenders later this fall. The remodel is part of an overall $3.8 million Capital Improvement Plan for the county that also includes Justice Center Mechanical Repairs and Roof Replacement, according to Lee.
Both the Juvenile Detention Center and Justice Center are managed by Tri-County Community Corrections, which houses inmates from Polk, Norman, and Red Lake Counties.
