Polk County Sheriff Talks Importance of Pine-to-Prairie Drug Task Force
Fosston, MN — Whether it’s a major drug bust or tracking down a wanted suspect, law enforcement agencies rely on each other in those times of need when just one or two officers won’t do. During a recent visit on the KKCQ Food for Thought Program, Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman spoke about how area agencies work together to fight crime, specifically through the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force. The Pine to Prairie Drug Task is a violent crime enforcement agency made up of agents from Polk County, Norman County, Marshall County, Roseau County, Lake of the Woods County, East Grand Forks, Thief River Falls, Crookston, Border Patrol, and Homeland Security. Sheriff Tadman says crime is widespread throughout Northwest Minnesota and its nice to have agents who work well together and are dedicated to tackling violent crime throughout the region.
Tadman says both the short- and long-term goals of the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force is stop more than just drugs, but all violent crimes as well.
Sheriff Tadman adds that many law enforcement agencies in Northwest Minnesota, Polk County included, have a lot of ground to cover and only so many officers, so they rely on mutual aid all the time from other agencies to help with investigations, accidents, and more.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office joins the KKCQ Food for Thought program on the 1st and 2nd Thursday of each month.
