Polk County Sheriff’s Office Talks Safety & Trespassing as Hunting Seasons Open

Fosston, MN — The Minnesota Archery season begins this weekend and various other bird waterfowl seasons have gotten or will be getting underway soon. With the hunting season ramping up, Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Norland joined the KKCQ Food for Thought Program recently to provide a few reminders for fellow hunters and landowners. For starters, he asks landowners who don’t want people coming onto their land to post “No Trespassing” signs. While it isn’t required, Deputy Norland says it removes any doubt that they aren’t supposed to be there.

 And if you are going out hunting alone, Norland recommends letting someone know where you are going to be and having a first aid kit in case of an emergency.

If you are using a tree stand, make sure it is properly secured before climbing into and make sure to use a harness to prevent a fall.
