Representative Marquart Comments on New District Maps
Dilworth, MN — The Minnesota Supreme Court released the new legislative and congressional district maps last Tuesday and it will lead to a shake up in who represents who across the state. Locally, the biggest change is change of boundaries in Legislative District 1 and 4. District 4B Representative Paul Marquart says the southern boundary of District 1 has been extended from Polk County to Norman County and even parts of Clay County.
Representing District 1B in the House is Representative Deb Keil and the Senate seat is held by Senator Mark Johnson.
The new congressional maps will see some local impacts as well. District 7, which previously covered all of western Minnesota, has narrowed as District 8 has expanded to include all of the reservations in Northern Minnesota.
The new maps will make this year’s midterm election an interesting one as you’ll see current legislative allies pitted against each other and even some new names entering the race, according to Marquart.
