Representative Marquart Recaps End to MN Legislative Session
St. Paul, MN — District 4B Representative Paul Marquart joined the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program for the final time to recap this year’s Minnesota Legislative session. The session ended without some of the most important issues addressed, including a tax bill or many of the spending bills. Representative Marquart notes that they were able to pass bills to support agriculture and mental health.
Marquart is Chair of the House Tax Committee. He says not getting a tax bill passed despite having an agreement between the House and Senate on tax cuts is a major disappointment and let down for Minnesotans.
If there were to be a special session, it would likely occur sometime in the next few weeks. Marquart believes that there are political reasons why the Senate Republicans are holding off for the time being.
This was Representative Marquart’s last session as he will not be seeking reelection this fall.
