Rydell National Wildlife Refuge Kicks off Series of Youth Events with Intro to Archery
Erskine, MN — After a couple of years without hosting many in-person events, the Rydell National Wildlife Refuge and Friends of the Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges Association will be hosting several free, in-person events for area youth this summer. Rydell and Glacial Ridge Manager Gregg Knutsen says that he’s excited about bringing back many of their normal activities on the refuge.
The first youth event to return is an Introduction to Archery, which will be held at the Rydell Refuge this Saturday, July 16th from 10am until 1pm. Knutsen says this program is aimed at youth age 8 to 16 looking to learn the basic of archery.
Knutsen also hopes to use the archery program as a way to educate the public about hunting opportunities on the refuge, which many people are still unaware of.
No preregistration is required to participate in the Introduction to Archery Program and there is no cost.
The Rydell National Wildlife Refuge also has Youth Fishing Derby planned for July 23rd and a Youth Owl Pellet Dissection Seminar scheduled for August 6th.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend these events with their children. For more information or if you have questions, contact Gregg Knutsen, Refuge Manager, at 218-686-4329 or gregg_knutsen@fws.gov.
