Shock & Awe Hosting Cancer Color Run this Saturday at the Gary Pines
Gary, MN — Shock & Awe invites everyone to participate in a Cancer Color Run this Saturday, October 8th at the Gary Pines. Shock & Awe is a Youth Philanthropy Group with students from the Ada-Borup-West and Norman County East School Districts that grants funds, performs community projects, and develops strong leadership traits and relationships within the group that will benefit them in the future. The Cancer Color Run is scheduled to get underway at 10am. All participants will be given a white t-shirt where they can write the name of a person they are running in honor of. Anne Nalewaja, advisor for Shock & Awe, says this color run first occurred in 2019 with the help of their now group President, Cassidy Abraham, who like many of us had been personally impacted by cancer.
The Gary Pines was chosen as the locator for the Color Run because not only has Shock & Awe been a supporter of the multi-use recreational facility, but the unique setting this time of year should provide some additional color with the changing leaves.
The entry fee is just a free will-donation with all proceeds going back to the Roger Maris Cancer Center. A lunch will also be provided after the run.
Seth Miller, Shock and Awe member and Norman County East Junior, says he’s looking forward to throwing some color and supporting a good cause this weekend.
