Syttende Mai Dumpling Dinner this Sunday at Norman County Fairgrounds
Ada, MN — Celebrate your Norwegian heritage and the national day of Norway this Sunday, May 15th at the 4-H building at Norman County Fairgrounds with their first ever Syttende Mai Potato Dumpling Feed. Syttende Mai translates to the 17th of May and is similar our 4th of July or Mexico’s Cinco De Mayo. The Norman County Ag Society and the Norman County Historical Society are celebrating a few days early with this ham and dumpling feed due to logistics, but Solveig Kitchell of the Norman County Historical Society says Syttende Mai is a big day for those proud Norwegians.
The Norman County Ag Society is sponsoring the event as a fundraiser for the Coliseum building, but the Historical Society will be volunteering their services also. Kitchell says they’ll have a few unique pieces of Norwegian history on display during the dinner.
The Syttende Mai Potato Dumpling Feed will run from 11am until 1pm this Sunday, May 15th at the 4-H building on Norman County Fairgrounds. The cost is $15 per meal. To-go meals are available by driving to the north door of the 4-H building.
