Ulen-Hitterdal School Board Discusses Childcare Referendum Failure, Staffing, and Bussing Options
Ulen, MN — The Ulen-Hitterdal School District will move forward seeking solutions for childcare following the failure of their August 9th childcare center referendum. The referendum, which only had roughly 25% of voters supporting it, was a focus of this month’s school board meeting held on August 17th. Ulen-Hitterdal Superintendent Dustin Flaten says they are disappointed it didn’t pass, but they will reevaluate and continue to look for solutions to fill their need for childcare providers in the community.
Also at this month’s meeting, the board approved a few new hires, but Superintendent Flaten says its likely they will be a little short staffed heading into the start of the new school year.
And there was some discussion about transportation as well. With enrollment up and bus drivers in short supply, Flaten notes they are looking into some alternatives route options should the need arise.
The Ulen-Hitterdal School Board meets next on Wednesday, September 14th.
