Voyageurs National Park Lifts Burning Restrictions
Last Friday, Kate Severson came in to the studio for the station’s Let’s Talk About it to talk about some changes at Voyageurs National Park.
She came to talk about some changes happening at the park following the fire restrictions put in place the previous week.
As she said, due to recent rainfall and improved humidity over much of northern Minnesota, Voyageurs National Park is lifting the ban on campfires in the park, effective October 25, 2024. This decision is made in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which has lifted Class III fire restrictions for northern Minnesota counties, including Koochiching and St. Louis counties.
While she was in the studio she also gave a heads up on the winter season changes happening at the Visiting Center.
As well as the snow equipment rental that the park will be holding.
Kate was asked the winter hours of the park moving forward.
Finally, she informs us on the educational programs visitors can attend.
Before she left the studio, we got to know a little more about Kate and her previous job before coming here to work her first job at a national park.
Visitors to Voyageurs National Park may once again enjoy recreational fires (campfires) in designated metal fire rings. Charcoal-fueled fires in metal fire rings and grills are also permitted.
Thank you to all visitors for cooperating during the recent high fire danger period. We encourage continued caution while enjoying campfires at the park. For the latest information on restrictions and other important park announcements, please visit our website.
