From special XC-skiing and snowshoe events to night sky telescope viewing opportunities in the park, Voyageurs recently celebrated its annual Boreal Stargazing week alongside Voyageurs Conservancy and many other amazing partners. Among many highlights, this incredible virtual classroom adventure happened:

Over 45,000+ students across the nation, many who have never set foot in a national park, learned about the park’s frozen landscapes, fascinating wildlife, and breathtaking dark skies as they got a front-row virtual seat to the magic of Voyageurs National Park.

For many, it was more than just a lesson, it was a spark of curiosity and wonder:

“Watching them out in the freezing cold and still so excited to teach us was amazing. Now I really want to be a park ranger!” – Xavier, 8th grade, Minnesota

“Our class had so many questions about animal adaptations in winter, and they were all answered in real time. Learning from experts in the field is so much more powerful than reading about it in a textbook.” – Mrs. Simmonds, Middle School Teacher

Nature has a way of connecting us, no matter where we are! A huge thank you to our amazing partners: Voyageurs Conservancy, Expeditions In Education, Starry Skies North, @friendsbwcaw, Bell Museum, and U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest

This incredible program was made possible with funding support from the National Park Foundation and Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund
