Walz Opens Selection Process for Minnesota Supreme Court Vacancies
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Announced Tuesday that he will be opening the selection process for the two vacancies on the Minnesota Supreme Court left vacant after the retirements of Justice G. Barry Anderson, and Margaret H. Chutich.
Governor Walz has asked a merit selection panel consisting of leadership in his administration, the chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection, and the at-large members of the commission to solicit applicants, review candidates, and recommend finalists for appointment.
Walz says the panel is looking for fair, experienced, and civic-minded individuals to serve on the bench and offer their talents and services to Minnesota’s judicial system. As well as applicants who reflect Minnesota’s full diversity.
People wishing to apply are instructed to request an application by contacting the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor via e-mail at Judicial.Selection@state.mn.us. Applicants only need to submit one application and will be considered for both of the open seats.
Applications are due by 4:00 pm on February 26 and should be addressed to Governor Tim Walz. For more information go to mn.gov/governor.
