What Does Democrat Controlled Legislature Mean for Education in Minnesota?
Ada, MN — For the first time in nearly a decade, one of the only divided state legislatures in the country will no longer be divided. Following this year’s election, the Democrats took control of both the House and Senate in Minnesota and Democrat Tim Walz remains the Governor as well. So what does that mean for education? Ada-Borup-West Superintendent Aaron Cook during his visit on the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program hinted that it probably means more investments in education.
But along with increases to funding, Superintendent Cook notes that a Democrat controlled legislature usually means more new policies and often times little financial assistance to institute them.
The 2023 Legislative Session gets underway in Minnesota on Tuesday, January 3rd.
