World’s Largest Charitable Ice Fishing Contest
The recent cold weather has formed a good base of ice on area lakes, just in time. Brainerd’s Gull Lake will play host to thousands of anglers as the 33rd Annual Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza gets under way on January 28.Area charities will benefit from the proceeds of the event when over 10,000 anglers from all over the country (will) compete for more than $200,000 in prizes. This is the largest prize package in ice fishing.
Last year, close to $100,000 was raised for area non-profit organizations. Confidence Learning Center will be the primary recipient again this year. The center is an outdoor education and recreation facility for persons with developmental disabilities.
