Ada City Council News & Notes from January 10th Meeting
Ada, MN — The Ada City Council held their first regular monthly meeting of the 2023 year on Tuesday night at the Council Chambers. As a first order of business, the recently elected council members, including new councilman Scott Nordquist, were sworn into office. Ada City Administrator Ashley Larson says they also approved new committee appointments for the year.
The council this week continued discussion of a new THC Ordinance. After some recent conversations with area communities, Administrator Larson says they voted in favor of raising the license fee from $20 to $250.
Having given out around $15,000 already this year in donations and more than $4,500 remaining in their gambling funds, the Ada City Council agreed to utilize those remaining funds on Tuesday night for equipment purchases, a Dekko Scholarship, and also a donation to the Norman County K9 fund as well.
And under her Administrator report, Larson reported some good news from the Ada Municipal Liquor Store. She notes that it appears to have been a very profitable year.
Councilmembers Shawn Roux and Kim Lewis are scheduled to join the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program this Thursday at 9am to further recap this week’s meeting.
Ada City Offices will close at 2pm on Wednesday to observe the funeral of Norman County Sheriff Jeremy Thornton.
