Aitkin City Council meeting from August 1st

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council meeting from Monday, August 1st reviewed intent to apply for funding for the Police Department roof, talks on the Aitkin Farmers Market and the Ripplesippi Music Fest from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
City Administrator Mike Skrbich reminded the Council and the public of needed Primary Election information.
The Council also opened discussion on a Moving Reimbursement Request for Skrbich which was reviewed by the City’s attorney.
Further discussion and any action on the reimbursement request was tabled until a lter meeting pending review from other legal personnel.Council member Katherine Galliger recapped a conversation she had on behalf of the Aitkin Farmer’s Market and their need for space.
Ideas on possible bigger locations will be presented to the Farmer’s Market with any future plans to be discussed later. Street Supervisor Lon Nicko brought up the special event permit for Ripplesippi Music Fest and their need to close down main street overnight for an event that was originally just one day.
Nicko also brought up the topic of political signs on road right-of-ways.
The Aitkin City Council approved the Riceland Chapter of the MN Deer Hunters Association Gambling Permit for an event on September 23rd, the Special Event Permit and Temporary Liquor License for the Aitkin County Friends of the Arts for the Harvest Moon Brew Fest event on September 10th.
