Cold Snap to Remain for Another Two Weeks
Fargo, ND — How long will this cold and wet weather pattern continue? For at least the next two weeks, according to North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network Director Daryl Ritchison. Sometime around May 10th, give or take a few days, he believes the below average weather cycle will give way to more seasonal temperatures, which for this time of year is mid 60s and 70s.
And more moisture is in the forecast as well for the coming weekend, but whether or not it will amount to similar amounts as this past weekend remains to be seen, according to Ritchison.
Once we do come out of this cold snap, Ritchison remains confident we will return to a warmer and dryer than average summer similar, but not as extreme, as last year.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their summer outlook on Monday and their predictions fall in line with Ritchson’s. NOAA is predicting a 50-60% chance of a warmer than average summer and 50-60% chance of drier than average throughout most of Minnesota and North Dakota.
