Deer hunting season to look very different in Clay County this fall 

For many years, Clay County has been a shotgun only zone for the Minnesota Deer Season, but changes in the Minnesota Legislature made it so the county could make their own decision in allowing the use of rifles. Rob Baden of the Minnesota DNR says Clay County has been hard at work the past year, gathering the public’s thoughts on this topic. 

As for what was decided, Baden says some parts of the county will remain shotgun-only, with some permit areas now allowing the use of rifles. 

Baden also explains why the State of Minnesota initially instituted shotgun only zones  in areas like Clay County.
