DNR on Deer Season (for firearms)
At the moment, it’s still deer season for bow hunters in Minnesota, but Deer season for firearms is just around the corner. In spirit of the upcoming season we got to speak with Barb Keller who is the Big Game Program Leader.
She was then asked about what options are some more rules and regulations hunters should know for deer season, like if someone doesn’t own any private property with a deer stand.
What are some things to keep in mind with the weather getting colder, but not as cold as past winters.
Speaking of gun safety, are there any any restrictions in that category?
KARE 11 had also released a review from the DNR on the Deer season and observed that for Northeast Minnesota, the best hunting is expected in areas of mixed habitat of open fields and forest.
Just recently, last weekend was the Firearms Youth Deer Season which took place during the break students had thanks to MEA. So Barb was asked about the Youth Season and how long they’ve been doing it.
And gun safety is even more important to be taught to the future deer hunters.
Another struggle that usually comes with deer season in the northeast region is the population of deer suffering from the harsh winters we get.
Barb Keller makes sure to also give a heads up of other seasons coming up for Minnesota hunters.
Don’t forget, Deer Season for firearms begins on November 9th!
