Ulen, MN — The Ulen-Hitterdal School Board has officially decided to move forward with a referendum vote this fall to see if district taxpayers will support constructing a $1.75 million, 3200 square foot center based childcare facility. The board approved a resolution to move forward with a special election as part of the August 9th primary. Ulen-Hitterdal Interim Superintendent Todd Cameron says there is not only interest, but a need for more childcare in the community and they believe this facility would help ease that burden.

Meanwhile, this summer the Ulen-Hitterdal School will be offering a school-aged childcare program. At this past week’s meeting, the board approved hiring Paige Deltener as the Director and Aspen Thompson as the Assistant Director.

Superintendent Cameron also provided a legislative update to the school board. He notes that the House and Senate have quite different philosophies when it comes to spending money this session.

And Cameron was also happy to report that the Ulen-Hitterdal School was once again named to the National Association of Music Merchants “Best Communities for Music Education.”

The board also accepted the resignation of Jocie Herzog, Ann Marie Stewart, and Chris Hohnadel.
