53rd Annual Snodeo Set for this Weekend on North Twin Lake
Naytahwaush, MN — For more than five decades the Naytahwaush Nightriders Snowmobile Club have been celebrating snowmobiling with their annual Snodeo, and that tradition continues this weekend. North Twin Lake and Pinehurst resort play host to their 53rd Annual Naytahwaush Nightriders Snodeo with two days of high-speed snowmobile racing action this Saturday and Sunday, March 4th and 5th.
The most action on the ice this weekend comes from the Cor Powersports Cross Country racing and the Dawn Kirsch Memorial Radar Runs. Carrot Paul of the Naytahwaush Nightriders says the Cor Powersports Cross Country Racing will bring in some of the best snowmobile racers in the country, but many of which are actually local to the area.
Cross Country racing gets underway at 9am both Saturday and Sunday. The KC Pro West series will also be host to youth snowmobile races both days as well.
The Dawn Kirsh Memorial Radar Run will be held on Saturday starting at 9am as well and gives the local amateur riders a chance to see who has the fastest sled in town, according to Paul.
If high speeds aren’t your thing, there will also be a vintage snowmobile show and old timers run on Saturday. Judging starts at 1pm and the ride will follow shortly after.
As to what makes this event so successful event after fifty plus years, Paul credits their many volunteers.
Spectators are of course welcome. The cost is $10 per day, which helps support trail maintenance. Visit www.naytahwaushnightriders.com or follow them on Facebook for more information.
