CREST Brings STEM Education To Rural Areas
CROOKSTON, MN—A year ago, the University of Minnesota-Crookston established the Center for Rural Education in Science and Technology, or CREST. The idea is to allow underserved and underrepresented schools in northwest Minnesota to have opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math that are commonly found in larger schools. Amber Murry, the K-through-12 CREST outreach coordinator, says Ada-Borup-West High School took advantage of CREST.
And this summer, Murry says CREST visited Mahnomen Elementary School.
Murry says CREST has also taught students that are home schooled. CREST is currently raising money to buy equipment for a mobile lab…in order to reach more students. For more information, call Amber Murry at 218-281-8265.
